Sibal's Single Entrance Test may soon take an exit

As we all know that the cabinet ministers in the UPA has been shuffled last year, MM Pallam Raju has taken over as the HRD Minister replacing Kapil Sibal.

Kapil Sibal has bought up innovative steps in the education system and was successful in replacing state level entrance tests and forced for all India level common entrance tests for professional courses such as Engineering, Medical & Management courses.

IITs too have seen a change in their selection process, now academics see 40% weightage and the entrance test score draws only 60% weightage. Only 150,000 students will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced after qualifying in JEE Main.

Moreover, IITJEE is clubbed with AIEEE and is split in two phases JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

HT Reports, Pallam Raju has opposed the views of Kapil Sibal and expressed that the higher education system needs a boost. He is of the view to allow state governments to conduct their own entrance tests for professional courses instead of taking at central level. However, a final decision on key education reforms is awaited.
